Mechanism Underlying Flavor Quality Formation during Withering Process of Niangniang Tea, a Compressed Large-Leaf Yellow Tea

open access: yes
Abstract Niangniang tea (NNT) is a traditional compressed large-leaf yellow tea shaped as Chinese writing brush. Withering time affects the flavor characteristics. The sensory evaluation revealed the highest score was achieved at 8 hours of withering (Yd).

Demand Estimation with Text and Image Data

open access: yesThe RAND Journal of Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a demand estimation approach that leverages unstructured data to infer substitution patterns. Using pre‐trained deep learning models, we extract embeddings from product images and textual descriptions and incorporate them into a mixed logit demand model.

Family meals for future health: A life‐course approach to type 2 diabetes risk reduction after gestational diabetes

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
The potential role of family meals in a life‐course approach to type 2 diabetes risk‐reduction after gestational diabetes. Abstract Aims Gestational diabetes (GDM) more than doubles maternal and child risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Post‐GDM, a life‐course approach to T2D risk reduction includes family nutrition‐focused health promotion.

Tachinidae (Diptera) as Floral Visitors and Pollinators in Natural and Managed Systems

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We review the roles of bristle flies (Tachinidae) as pollinators in natural and managed systems. We find that most tachinid genera visit flowers and that floral‐adapted mouthparts have evolved repeatedly many times in the family. We review patterns of floral specificity and assess the efficacy of tachinids as pollinators with case studies.

S‑glutathionylation of MaWRKY44 orchestrates a MaZFP139‐MaWRKY44‐MaGSTU07 cascade to enhance banana cold tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In banana, at low temperatures (7°C), the transcription factor MaZFP139 activates MaWRKY44 expression. MaWRKY44 binds to the W‐box sites in the promoter of the glutathione S‐transferase gene MaGSTU07 to enhance reactive oxygen species scavenging. S‐glutathionylation protects MaWRKY44 from oxidation‐induced degradation, reinforcing antioxidant defenses ...
