Environmental variability in the Gulf of Guinea large marine ecosystem: physical features, forcing and fisheries [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis examines the forcing and behaviour of oceanographic physical features, relevant to recruitment in fish populations, in the Gulf of Guinea Large Marine Ecosystem, on seasonal and interannual time scales. Remotely sensed sea-surface temperature

Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Cells Utilize IL8 and CXCL1 to Suppress NK Cells’ Function and Facilitate Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells evade natural killer (NK) cell immunity by secreting IL8 and CXCL1. These chemokines suppress NK cells’ function via CXCR1/2 and enhance cancer cells’ survival through PD‐L1 upregulation and BCL‐2 anti‐apoptotic signaling.

Trophic Diversity in Duckweed: Mixotrophy, More Than the Sum of its Extremes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of rising DOC in aquatic environments, mixotrophic duckweed may impact carbon cycling by acting as either a carbon sink, as they absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, or a carbon source, as they release CO2 through respiration of absorbed DOC, which depends on DOC concentration, light availability, temperature, and other environmental ...

Orchestrated Engineered Polyphenol‐Peptide Condensates Coupled With β‐GP Reverses Diabetic Osteoporosis by Remodeling Mitophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional β‐GP@EGCG‐E7 nanoplatform is engineered by polyphenol–peptide condensation and phosphate loading. Bone‐targeted delivery, antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activity, and mitophagy restoration are integrated in one system, enabling protection of osteoblasts and endothelial cells and promoting bone regeneration under diabetic ...
