Large-Scale MIMO Systems with Practical Power Constraints

2016 IEEE 84th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2016
In this paper, we investigate the downlink of large-scale MIMO systems considering two practical constraints related to system power. More precisely, we consider a non-negligible circuit power consumption and we impose a per-antenna power constraint due to limitations on the linearity of the RF power amplifier.

Enabling Practical Large-Scale MIMO in WLANs With Hybrid Beamforming

IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2021
In theory, the capacity of a wireless network grows linearly with the number of users and antennas equipped at the communication devices, and hence large-scale MU-MIMO can scale up the network throughput. However, three main challenges are impeding the implementation of this promising technology in the state-of-the-art WLANs. Firstly, the current large-

Low-complexity multiuser detection for uplink large-scale MIMO

2014 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2014
In this paper, an iterative multiuser detector is proposed for uplink large-scale Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO). It is developed based on the Generalized Approximate Message Passing (GAMP) algorithm, and its convergence properties are analyzed by a one-dimensional iteration termed as State Evolution (SE).

Low Complexity Detection Algorithms in Large-Scale MIMO Systems

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2016
In this contribution, we present low-complexity detection algorithms in large-scale MIMO systems where they achieve significantly better bit error rate (BER) performance than known heuristic algorithms in large-scale MIMO literature, such as local ascent search (LAS) and reactive tabu search (RTS) algorithms, especially at higher-order modulations. Energy Management in Hybrid Energy Large-Scale MIMO Systems

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2017
This paper investigates the energy consumption of distributed large-scale MIMO systems made up of a set of remote radio heads (RRHs), each of which is powered by both an independent energy harvesting source and the grid. The grid energy source allows to compensate for the randomness and intermittency of the harvested energy.

Large-scale MIMO-based wireless backhaul in 5G networks

IEEE Wireless Communications, 2015
In order to enhance the attainable transmission rates to the levels specified by future wireless communications, a paradigm shift from conventional small-scale MIMO to large-scale (LS)-MIMO is highly desirable. LS-MIMO technology as a “cleanslate” approach is shown to be capable of dramatically increasing the area spectral efficiency (SE, as measured ...

Efficient near-MMSE detector for large-scale MIMO systems

2017 IEEE International Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS), 2017
In this paper, an improved and low-complexity signal detection approach for large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems has been proposed. This approach utilizes the preconditioning technique to accelerate the conventional detection algorithm based on Gauss-Seidel (GS) iterative method, and achieves a detection performance close to the ...

Improved Precoding Scheme for MmWave Large-Scale MIMO Systems

2019
Millimeter wave (mmWave) system has been considered as a key technology in 5G, due to its large available bandwidth and high spectrum efficiency. For such system, the traditional full digital precoding is unrealistic due to the costs and complexity of radio-frequency(RF) chains. To overcome this difficulty, hybrid precoding is proposed.
