On Accelerating Ultra-Large-Scale Mining

open access: yes2017 IEEE/ACM 39th International Conference on Software Engineering: New Ideas and Emerging Technologies Results Track (ICSE-NIER), 2017
Ultra-large-scale mining has been shown to be useful for a number of software engineering tasks e.g. mining specifications, defect prediction. We propose a new research direction for accelerating ultra-large-scale mining that goes beyond parallelization.

LASH [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2015 ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, 2015
We propose LASH, a scalable, distributed algorithm for mining sequential patterns in the presence of hierarchies. LASH takes as input a collection of sequences, each composed of items from some application-specific vocabulary. In contrast to traditional approaches to sequence mining, the items in the vocabulary are arranged in a hierarchy: both input ...

Large scale mining in Ghana: a review of the implications on the host communities

open access: yesJournal of Degraded and Mining Lands Management, 2021
Following the implementation of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) in 1983, Ghana’s mining sector has experienced significant growth, making Ghana one of the 10-leading producers of gold globally and the largest in Africa since 2018.

Distributed mining of convoys in large scale datasets

open access: yesGeoInformatica, 2021
Tremendous increase in the use of the mobile devices equipped with the GPS and other location sensors has resulted in the generation of a huge amount of movement data. In recent years, mining this data to understand the collective mobility behavior of humans, animals and other objects has become popular.

Mining Traces of Large Scale Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Large scale distributed computing infrastructure captures the use of high number of nodes, poor communication performance and continously varying resources that are not available at any time. In this paper, we focus on the different tools available for mining traces of the activities of such aforementioned architecture.

Evolution Analysis of Microseismic Events before and after Mining through Large-Scale Weak Zone with High Confined Water

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
The existence of large-scale weak zone will have a great adverse impact on coal mining in high confined aquifer. Taking the Wutongzhuang Coal Mine which is threatened by high-pressure water as an example, this paper studies the difference between the ...

Large-Scale Image Mining with Flickr Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The availability of large annotated visual resources, such as ImageNet, recently led to important advances in image mining tasks. However, the manual annotation of such resources is cumbersome. Exploiting Web datasets as a substitute or complement is an interesting but challenging alternative.

Working Vibration Analysis of the Bearing Plate on Roadheader Test Bed

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
In order to research the vibration characteristics of the bearing plate on roadheader test bed to bear the roadheaders with different parameters, this paper establishes a multi-body dynamic model for the bearing plate to bear the roadheaders by using the

Adaptive Partitioning for Large-Scale Dynamic Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
—In the last years, large-scale graph processing has gained increasing attention, with most recent systems placing particular emphasis on latency. One possible technique to improve runtime performance in a distributed graph processing system is to reduce
