Quasi-steady quasi-homogeneous description of the scale interactions in near-wall turbulence

open access: yes, 2016
By introducing a notion of an ideal large-scale filter, a formal statement is given of the hypothesis of the quasi-steady quasi-homogeneous nature of the interaction between the large and small scales in the near-wall part of turbulent flows.

A Homotopy Method for Large-Scale Multi-Objective Optimization

open access: yes, 2015
A homotopy method for multi-objective optimization that produces uniformly sampled Pareto fronts by construction is presented. While the algorithm is general, of particular interest is application to simulation-based engineering optimization problems where economy of function evaluations, smoothness of result, and time-to-solution are critical.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Optimization of Discrete-parameter Multiprocessor Systems using a Novel Ergodic Interpolation Technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Modern multi-core systems have a large number of design parameters, most of which are discrete-valued, and this number is likely to keep increasing as chip complexity rises. Further, the accurate evaluation of a potential design choice is computationally

Large scale multi-objective optimization: Theoretical and practical challenges

open access: yes, 2016
Multi-objective optimization (MOO) is a well-studied problem for several important recommendation problems. While multiple approaches have been proposed, in this work, we focus on using constrained optimization formulations (e.g., quadratic and linear programs) to formulate and solve MOO problems.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Multiform-based evolutionary framework for large-scale constrained multi-objective optimization

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal
Large-scale constrained multi-objective optimization problems (LSCMOPs) are common in real-world scenarios. These multi-objective problems are characterized by high-dimensional decision spaces and complex constraints, posing a stiff challenge for ...

Emergency logistics scheduling with multiple supply-demand points based on grey interval

open access: yesJournal of Safety Science and Resilience, 2022
This study aimed to address the problem of post-disaster emergency material dispatching from multiple supply points to multiple demand points. In large-scale natural disasters, it is very important for multiple emergency material supply points to serve ...
