Stochastic Block Mirror Descent Methods for Nonsmooth and Stochastic Optimization [PDF]
In this paper, we present a new stochastic algorithm, namely the stochastic block mirror descent (SBMD) method for solving large-scale nonsmooth and stochastic optimization problems. The basic idea of this algorithm is to incorporate the block-coordinate

Multimodal Optimization Enhanced Cooperative Coevolution for Large-Scale Optimization
Cooperative coevolutionary (CC) algorithms decompose a problem into several subcomponents and optimize them separately. Such a divide-and-conquer strategy makes CC algorithms potentially well suited for large-scale optimization. However, decomposition may be inaccurate, resulting in a wrong division of the interacting decision variables into different ...

Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Large-scale linearly constrained optimization [PDF]
An algorithm for solving large-scale nonlinear programs with linear constraints is presented. The method combines efficient sparse-matrix techniques as in the revised simplex method with stable quasi-Newton methods for handling the nonlinearities. A general-purpose production code (MINOS) is described, along with computational experience on a wide ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Improved Differential Evolution for Large-Scale Black-Box Optimization
The demand for solving large-scale complex problems continues to grow. Many real-world problems are described by a large number of variables that interact with each other in a complex way.
