Large Scale Structure of the Universe

2001
Now it is generally recognized that on large scales the universe is isotropic and homogeneous while on smaller scales it is extremely clumpy. Indeed, detected small variations of CMB anisotropy by COBE - ΔT/T ≈ 10−5- restrict the possible inhomogeneities on larger scales, while existence of so prominent galaxy concentrations as, for example, groups and

The Large-Scale Structure of the Universe

open access: yes, 1987
In this thesis, several theoretical concepts relating to the large-scale structure of the universe are presented. In particular, various aspects of the hierarchical scenario are investigated.

The large scale structure of the universe

1991
We present a catalogue of galaxies from COSMOS scans of 16 second epoch Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-II) plates. The surveys covers an area of 386 square degrees, and covers 150,000 galaxies in the magnitude range 16.5 ≤ r ≤ 19.0. The plates are divided into a north galactic (7 plates, α ≈ 15[superscript h]0[superscript m],δ ≈ +30°(1950.0), b ≈

Large-scale structure in the Universe

Physica Scripta, 1991
I present the latest results from three new surveys of the galaxy distribution which have been specially designed to detect large scale structure. The surveys provide strong evidence that our Universe contains more structure on scales 10h-1 Mpc than would have been expected in simple versions of the Cold Dark Matter model and pose a challenge for ...

The Structure of the Universe on Large Scales

1991
A possible explanation of the results from a quantitative analysis of the deep galactic surveys is suggested. The theoretical model taking into account the influence of the potential on the galaxy distribution is given. This model allows explaining the galaxy distribution on superlarge scales and the formation of large voids.

The large-scale structures of the Universe

Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 2000
Abstract The present status of our understanding of the large-scale structures of the Universes is reviewed. The different methods that have been employed to probe the large-scale structures are presented, together with a discussion of their interests. Special emphasis is put on the implications of the observational results to the dark matter issue.
