Spherical simulations of large‐scale structure of the Universe
Astronomische Nachrichten, 1985AbstractWe consider a spherical‐smmetric perturbation in an initially homogeneous dust filled universe within the frame‐work of the Bondi‐Tolman solution. The decoupling of the perturbed region from the background evolution naturally leads to shell‐crossing in a certain outer environment, which describes energy relaxation.

Large Scale Structure of the Universe
2001Now it is generally recognized that on large scales the universe is isotropic and homogeneous while on smaller scales it is extremely clumpy. Indeed, detected small variations of CMB anisotropy by COBE - ΔT/T ≈ 10−5- restrict the possible inhomogeneities on larger scales, while existence of so prominent galaxy concentrations as, for example, groups and

The large-scale structure of the universe
Contemporary Physics, 1996Abstract The search for a theory that explains the origin of galaxies and large-scale structure in the Universe is at an exciting stage. Observational advances, including measurements of the anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background and systematic surveys of galaxy redshifts, are confronting theoretical calculations of the distribution of matter ...

The large-scale structures of the Universe
Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 2000Abstract The present status of our understanding of the large-scale structures of the Universes is reviewed. The different methods that have been employed to probe the large-scale structures are presented, together with a discussion of their interests. Special emphasis is put on the implications of the observational results to the dark matter issue.

The Large Scale Structure of the Universe
1989We discuss the constraints that three different class of observations can set on various model for the formation of the large scale structure of the Universe. These observations involve measurements of galaxy peculiar velocity and gravity, and the cosmic microwave background angular distribution.

The large scale structure of the universe
1991We present a catalogue of galaxies from COSMOS scans of 16 second epoch Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-II) plates. The surveys covers an area of 386 square degrees, and covers 150,000 galaxies in the magnitude range 16.5 ≤ r ≤ 19.0. The plates are divided into a north galactic (7 plates, α ≈ 15[superscript h]0[superscript m],δ ≈ +30°(1950.0), b ≈
