Research on high-precision large-aperture laser differential confocal-interferometric optical element multi-parameter measurement method

open access: yesLight: Advanced Manufacturing
To fulfill the requirements of high-precision common baseline measurement for multiple parameters, such as surface profiling and the curvature radius of large-aperture optical elements on the same instrument, this paper proposes a research on a high ...

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Optimal paths and dynamical symmetry breaking in the current fluctuations of driven diffusive media

open access: yesSciPost Physics Lecture Notes
Large deviation theory provides a framework to understand macroscopic fluctuations and collective phenomena in many-body nonequilibrium systems in terms of microscopic dynamics.

From junk to function — How weak selection in eukaryotes builds new parts and drives genomic complexity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Analysis of aeroelastic stability and loads of wind turbines based on CFD-CSD coupled simulation

open access: yesKongqi donglixue xuebao
To address the strong nonlinear aeroelastic bottleneck in the lightweight development of ultra-large wind turbines, as well as the insufficient simulation accuracy of the traditional blade element momentum (BEM) theory under large-angle separated flow ...

Least absolute deviation estimation of linear econometric models: A literature review [PDF]

open access: yes
Econometricians generally take for granted that the error terms in the econometric models are generated by distributions having a finite variance. However, since the time of Pareto the existence of error distributions with infinite variance is known ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...
