Large Hyperconjugation in Strained Systems

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2014
AbstractCarbocations can appear as transient species, for instance, in elimination reactions and various rearrangements. Hyperconjugation (or conjugation) can then stabilize the cationic character and form a partial π bond. The effect of the electronic delocalization from strained substituents to a carbocation part was calculated.

Plane-Strain Bending With Isotropic Strain Hardening at Large Strains

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2010
Finite deformation elastic-plastic analysis of plane-strain pure bending of a strain hardening sheet is presented. The general closed-form solution is proposed for an arbitrary isotropic hardening law assuming that the material is incompressible. Explicit relations are given for most popular conventional laws.

Modelling of strain localization in a large strain context

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 1996
In order to avoid pathological mesh dependency in finite element modelling of strain localization, an isotropic elasto-plastic model with a yield function depending on the Laplacian of the equivalent plastic strain is implemented in a 4-node quadrilateral finite element with one integration point based on a mixed formulation derived from Hu-Washizu ...

Large plastic strains in sheet-bending

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 1971
Abstract Based on Hill's general theory of sheet bending, a closed form expression is derived for strain in any fiber of a sheet bent under the conditions of plane strain and negligible elastic strains. A numerical example indicates that the assumptions of the theory are plausible over a wide range of the angle of bending.

A novel intrinsically strain sensor for large strain detection

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2021
Abstract Soft and stretchable electronic devices play an important role in the growing fields of “soft robotics”, electronic skin, prosthetics, etc. As one of the fundamental units for stretchable electronics, strain sensors have been widely investigated in previous studies, although large strain detection is still a well-known challenge ...

LARGE STRAIN SOLUTIONS OF RUBBER COMPONENTS

Computers & Structures, 1983
Abstract A Mooney-Rivlin material model for plane strain and axisymmetric analyses of rubber has been implemented in the ADINA computer code. Using a consistent penalty method, derived from a regularized mixed formulation, the nonlinear incompressibility constraint is weakened by a properly chosen projection procedure.
