Large electrical strain in lead-free K0.5Na0.5NbO3-based ceramics by heterovalent doping
Heterovalent doped (K0.48-0.07xNa0.52-0.43xBi0.5x)(Nb0.95-0.95xSb0.05-0.05xZrx)O3 ceramics were fabricated using conventional solid-state reaction. Then, the phase structures, dielectric, ferroelectric, and electric-strain properties were investigated ...

Soft metal constructs for large strain sensor membrane [PDF]
Thin gold films on silicone display large reversible change in electrical resistance upon stretching. Eutectic liquid metal conductors maintain bulk metal conductivity, even upon extensive elongation.

Magnetoelastic thin films at large strains
AbstractStarting from the three-dimensional setting, we derive a limit model of a thin magnetoelastic film by means of $$\varGamma $$ Γ -convergence techniques. As magnetization vectors are defined on the elastically deformed configuration, our model features both Lagrangian and Eulerian terms.

Thermomechanical Variational Principles for Dissipative Materials with Application to Strain Localization in Bulk Metallic Glasses [PDF]
This thesis is concerned with variational principles for general coupled thermomechanical problems in dissipative materials including finite elastic and plastic deformation, non-Newtonian viscosity, rate sensitivity, arbitrary flow and hardening rule, as

Achieving large electric-field-induced strain in lead-free piezoelectrics
Lead-free piezoelectric single crystals of Fe-doped 0.95(Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3-0.05BaTiO3 are shown to combine multiple mechanisms for high strain and an effective piezoelectric coefficient of up to 3260 pm/V.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Plastic stress-strain fields and blunting effects during large deformations
Plastic stress-strain fields of two types of steel specimens loaded to large deformations are studied. Computational results demonstrate that, owing to the fact that the hardening exponent of the material varies as strain enlarges and the blunting of the
