棕头鸥(Larus brunnicephalus)属鸥形目(Lariformes)鸥科(Laridae),是一种体型中等、头棕褐、嘴和脚皆为红色、颇受人们喜爱的观尝水禽之一。每年三月初开始迁来青海湖,十月中旬才陆续离去,是以鱼类为食的夏候鸟,是在青海湖鸟岛上繁殖的鸟类中数量最多的一种。我们于1974年6—7月及1981年5—8月在青海湖鸟岛对棕头鸥的繁殖习性进行了初步观察,现将所获资料整理如下:
