Temporal variations in English Populations of a forest insect pest, the green spruce aphid (Elatobium abietinum), associated with the North Atlantic Oscillation and global warming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Based on an exceptionally long modern ecological dataset (41 years), it has been possible to show that warm weather in England associated with a positive North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index causes the spring migration of the green spruce aphid ...

Genetic diveristy and breeding of larch (Larix decidua Mill.) in Romania [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Forest Research, 2009
Although it is one of the most important coniferous species, the larch(Larix decidua Mill.) covers a restricted area in Romania, only 0.3% of the forest area, most being represented by artificial stands. The natural area of the larch is fragmented, being

Fertilization influences overyielding through dominance of species with high specific leaf area in young tree mixtures

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract In the context of anthropogenic eutrophication of the biosphere, understanding the impact of nutrient addition on plant diversity–productivity relationships remains a major challenge.

Variability of cones and scale surface area of European larch (Larix decidua Mill.)

open access: yesLeśne Prace Badawcze, 2017
The article describes the shape of the cones of the european larch (Larix decidua Mill.) using the fourth degree polynomial fitting function. The material is from the seed orchard of the Barycz Forest District.

Aberrant phyllotactic patterns in cones of some conifers: a quantitative study

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2015
The scale patterns of 6000 cones from one single tree of Pinus nigra Arn. have been examined. Apart from the main Fibonacci pattern with 8 and 13 parastichies, nine aberrant spiral patterns with Fibonacci-type sequences have been found.

Aboveground biomass of mongolian larch (Larix sibiricledeb.) forests in the eurasian region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We used our database of tree biomass with a number of 433 sample trees of Larix from different ecoregions of Eurasia, involving 61 trees from Mongolia for developing an additive model of biomass tree components.

Detection of Heat and Drought Effects on the Photosynthetic Activity Using Solar‐Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence and a Photochemical Reflectance Index in a Cool‐Temperate Larch Forest in Japan

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 3, May 2026.
Solar‐induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) and gross primary productivity decline at midday during a short heatwave in a tower site of a larch forest. High atmospheric vapor pressure deficit significantly reduced the photochemical reflectance index (PRI), light‐use efficiency (LUE), and canopy fluorescence emission efficiency (εF).

A phenological study on European larch (Larix decidua Mill.) in the Drahanská vrchovina highlands

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2008
The phenological study on the onset and duration of individual phenological phases of European larch (Larix decidua Mill.) has been performed using sample trees growing in the research station of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, MUAF Brno for
