Lars von Trier: Traversing the Fantasy of the Child
2019In his chapter, William Koch argues that many of the central themes of Lars von Trier’s films can be understood in light of the psychoanalysis of Jacques Lacan and Lee Edelman’s extension of those ideas. Specifically, the theme of the death or sacrifice of the child can be interpreted in light of the contrast between fantasy and the Death Drive.
