Larval rearing and spat production of Marcia opima (Gmelin) [PDF]
The ‘baby clam’ Marcia opima (Gmelin) was spawned on seven occasions in the shellfish hatchery at the Tuticorin Research Centre, India. The fertilized eggs measured 47.8 μm in diameter and the straight hinged larvae attained at 20 h were 87 μm in length and 71 μm in height. Settlement occurred on day 9 at 273 μm.

The FMRFamide-like peptide FLP-11 regulates the production and secretion of the TGF-β-like protein DAF-7 during Caenorhabditis elegans larval development [PDF]
FMRFamide-like peptides (FLPs) are widely conserved in nematodes. Here, we conducted a molecular genetic study to confirm that the flp-11 gene regulates larval development in the free-living soil nematode model species Caenorhabditis elegans.

Settlement and Growth of Mytilus galloprovincialis Pediveliger Larvae in Response to Biofilm-Based Microalgae and Chemical Neuroactive Compounds [PDF]
The sustainability of mollusc aquaculture relies, in part, on overcoming the challenges of spat production in captivity, particularly during the metamorphosis and settlement stages.

Life history and secondary production of Anomalocosmoecus illiesi Marlier, 1962 (Trichoptera, Limnephilidae) in a small stream in the northern Ecuadorian Paramo [PDF]
Life history of benthic faunas of tropical high-altitude cold environments are poorly studied. Here, monthly larval and adult data are presented for Anomalocosmoecus illiesi at Saltana Stream in Ecuador.

Hysteresis in the production of force by larval Dipteran muscle [PDF]
SUMMARYWe describe neuromuscular hysteresis – the dependence of muscle force on recent motoneuron activity – in the body wall muscles of larval Sarcophaga bullata and Drosophila melanogaster. In semi-intact preparations, isometric force produced by a train of nerve impulses at a constant rate was significantly less than that produced by the same train ...
