Characteristics of egg and larval production in captive bluespotted gobies

Journal of Fish Biology, 2001
Spawning of the Hawaiian coral‐reef goby Asterropteryx semipunctata was diurnal, occurring at various times throughout the day. Mean length of eggs deposited in nests was 0·76 mm (range 0·67–0·84); mean egg width was 0·47 mm (range 0·41–0·52). Clutch size varied from 296 to 1552 eggs (mean=886±309), and was independent of standard length, total body ...

Larval fish production in the tidal River Elbe 1985–1986

Journal of Fish Biology, 1991
In 1985 and 1986 ichthyoplankton composition was studied during seven sampling series at 37 stations along the tidal Elbe and its tributary rivers between Hamburg harbour and the North Sea. The highest larval density was observed in May and April. No, or very few, larvae occurred from late summer to early spring.

Characterization of an Experimental Indoor Larval Production System for Red Snapper

North American Journal of Aquaculture, 2006
Abstract Over the past several years, we have developed an experimental-scale rearing system for larval red snapper Lutjanus campechanus that combines extensive outdoor production of live-feed zooplankton with intensive larval fish rearing.

Larval saliva in Drosophila melanogaster: Production, composition, and relationship to chromosome puffs

Developmental Biology, 1977
Abstract Drosophila melanogaster salivary glands produce a mucoprotein-containing saliva in the third larval instar. At the time of prepupa formation, the protein component of the saliva is more than 30% of the total gland protein. Electrophoresis of reduced and alkylated saliva proteins in acrylamide gels yields four saliva-specific fractions. Two

Relations between Egg Production, Larval Production and Spawning Stock Size in Clyde Herring

1974
In 1957 the Marine Laboratory, Aberdeen conducted a preliminary survey of herring egg and larval distributions over Ballantrae Bank, the main spawning ground of the Clyde spring-spawning herring stock. In 1958 more systematic surveys were begun and, with some breaks due to unavailability of research vessels at the appropriate times, these have been ...
