Minimal alveolar concentration of sevoflurane in combination with remimazolam in adults during laryngeal mask insertion: an up-down sequential allocation study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Background Remimazolam is a novel ultrashort-acting intravenous benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic. The combination of remimazolam and sevoflurane does not increase respiratory sensitivity, produce bronchospasm, or cause other adverse conditions.

Noninvasive Characterization of Tumor Heterogeneity in HNSCC: From Clinical Utility to Biological Correlates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
This study establishes a CT‐based radiomics framework to quantify intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH) in HNSCC. Using unsupervised clustering, tumor ROIs and VOIs are analyzed to calculate 2D/3D ITH scores. The score shows strong predictive value for prognosis and immunotherapy response, and is associated with tumor metabolism and immune microenvironment,

Comparison of Respiratory Complications of Propofol and Isoflurane among Six-Months to Two-Years-Old Infants Undergoing Inguinal Herniorrhaphy under General Anesthesia with Laryngeal Mask Airway

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2017
Background: The use of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) for infants is increasing. But, there is not sufficient research on the anesthetic drugs used for infants whose airway is supported with laryngeal mask airway. This study aimed to compare the respiratory

Deep Learning‐Assisted Coherent Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, Volume 2, Issue 4, August 2026.
The analytical capabilities of coherent Raman scattering microscopy are augmented through deep learning integration. This synergistic paradigm improves fundamental performance via denoising, deconvolution, and hyperspectral unmixing. Concurrently, it enhances downstream image analysis including subcellular localization, virtual staining, and clinical ...

Tumor Growth Rate in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Scoping Review

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This scoping review evaluates the current literature on tumor growth rate in head and neck cancer patients and its potential prognostic value on survival, loco‐regional control and recurrence (PROSPERO registration CRD42022370828). Review Methods PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were searched for publications between 1990 and November 5th ...

3D Electrical Impedance Tomography of Regional Ventilation During Jet Ventilation: A Pilot Study

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Low‐frequency jet ventilation (LFJV) is commonly used in laryngotracheal surgery when intubation is not feasible. However, limited understanding of regional ventilation and distal airway pressures raises safety concerns and restricts broader adoption.

Drug‐Induced Sleep Endoscopy in Infants With Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Current Evidence and Knowledge Gaps

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
This scoping review of 8 observational studies including 151 infants under 12 months found that DISE most often identified dynamic, frequently multilevel airway obstruction, particularly at the supraglottis and retrolingual airway, with additional nasal and adenotonsillar contributors.

HyperSight CBCT dose calculation accuracy for adaptive head and neck radiotherapy: Results from a prospective clinical trial

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background Head and neck (H&N) patients frequently undergo anatomical changes such as weight loss and tumour shrinkage during treatment, requiring repeat imaging and replanning to maintain accurate dose delivery. On‐board cone‐beam CT (CBCT) systems could support these workflows, however they have historically been limited by reduced ...

Overview of the Effectiveness of Different Surfactant Administration Methods: An Umbrella Review of Meta‐Analyses

open access: yesPediatric Pulmonology, Volume 61, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the effectiveness of various surfactant administration methods. Methods We conducted an umbrella review of meta‐analyses conducted on randomized controlled trials. The search was conducted in March 2024 in four databases. Two authors screened the results and extracted the data.
