Correlating Vocal Fold Bowing and Thyroarytenoid Myocyte Dimensions in an Aging Rat Model

This study sought to investigate the mechanisms underlying age‐related vocal atrophy by comparing the vocal folds of rats at various ages through endoscopic and histologic assessment. Aged rats demonstrated greater endoscopic vocal fold bowing and larger thyroarytenoid myocyte cross‐sectional area than non‐aged adult rats.
