Effect of route of administration of lasalocid on response of young dairy calves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Forty newborn bull calves were assigned to one of four feeding groups. The feeds either contained lasalocid in milk (M), prestarter (PS), and starter (S); lasalocid in PS and S; lasalocid in S only; or no lasalocid.

BIOSYNTHESIS OF LASALOCID. I

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1974
The biosynthesis of lasalocid A (formerly antibiotic X-537 A) in cultures of Strepto-myces lasaliensis has been studied using 13C- and 14C-labelled precursors. The antibiotic is derived from five acetate, four propionate and three butyrate units. This study has provided the first illustration of an ethyl group arising from butyrate and 2-ethylmalonate.

Influence of Ionophore Supplementation on Growth Performance, Dietary Energetics and Carcass Characteristics in Finishing Cattle during Period of Heat Stress [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2013
Forty-eight crossbred heifers (378.1±18 kg) were used in a 56-d feeding trial (four pens per treatment in a randomised complete block design) to evaluate the influence of ionophore supplementation on growth performance, dietary energetics and carcass ...

Scientific Opinion on the safety and efficacy of Avatec®150G (lasalocid A sodium) for pheasants, partridges, quails and guinea‐fowl

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2011
Avatec®150G is a coccidiostat containing 15 % of the active substance lasalocid A sodium. Avatec®150G is proposed as a coccidiostat for pheasants, partridges, quails and guinea fowl at a dose range of 75–120 mg lasalocid sodium/kg complete feed. Based on

Structure of a potassium salt of Lasalocid A and an investigation of solid–state conformational variance of the Lasalocid A backbone in known complexes

open access: yes, 2021
The structure of a potassium salt of the polyether ionophore antibiotic Lasalocid A has been determined by single–crystal X–ray crystallography. A dimeric structure is revealed in which two antibiotic molecules present hemispheric oxygen co–ordination ...

Effect of Lasalocid or Monensin on feedlot (grain) bloat in cattle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Lasalocid or monensin (600 mg per 1000 lb body weight daily) was tested on cattle bloating on high grain diets. Bloat was reduced 92% by Lasalocid and 64% by monensin.

In vitro effect of pH on resistance of ruminal bacteria to intracellular potassium depletion, and effect of pH and ionophores on ammonia and microbial protein production Efeito do pH in vitro sobre a resistência de bactérias do rúmen à perda de potássio intracelular e efeito do pH e de ionóforos sobre a produção de amônia e proteína microbiana

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2005
Ruminal fluid from steers fed on pasture was incubated with artificial media at pH 5.5 and 7.0 in two experiments. In the first, the effect of monensin level on resistance of ruminal bacteria to potassium depletion was evaluated; in the second, effects ...

Cylinder Plate Assay for Lasalocid Sodium

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1974
Abstract A microbiological assay method is described for the determination of the coccidiostat lasalocid sodium in premixes and finished poultry feeds. Premixes are extracted with absolute methanol and diluted to assay range with 25% methanol in the final dilution.
