Potassium and Lasalocid Effects on Performance and Digestion in Lambs
Journal of Animal Science, 1986Two trials were conducted to evaluate effects of dietary potassium (K) concentration and lasalocid (L) in lamb finishing diets. Treatments were arranged in a 2 X 2 factorial and consisted of a 65% concentrate diet with 1.1% K (C), .9% K + 21.3 mg L/kg (CL), 2.1% K (P) and 2.5% K + 20 mg L/kg (PL).

Thermodynamic analysis of amines-lasalocid complex formation
Biophysical Chemistry, 1997The ionophore lasalocid A selectively transports amines across lipid membranes. Free energy differences of amine-lasalocid complex formation reactions and the activation barriers of the complex transport were calculated by the finite difference thermodynamic integration method.

Prevention of Lactic Acidosis in Cattle by Lasalocid or Monensin
Journal of Animal Science, 1981Intraruminal administration of lasalocid or monensin (1.3 mg/kg body weight) effectively prevented in glucose- or corn-induced lactic acidosis in cattle. Administering the antibiotics for 7 days before experimentally inducing acidosis with corn (27.5 g/kg body weight), effectively prevented acidosis, while 2 days' were sufficient to prevent glucose ...

The solution structure of a lasalocid A metal complex in lipophilic solvents
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2005Lasalocid A (LasNa), a common antibiotic in veterinary medicine, is a polyetheral ionophore, disrupting cation equilibria through the cell wall. By means of circular dichroism (in the UV and in the near-IR), paramagnetic NMR, and with the aid of the program PERSEUS, we determined the solution geometry of the 1:1 Las-Yb3+ complex in CD3CN and CDCl3 ...

Effects of adaptation to L, M or a daily rotation of L and M (R) on in vitro fermentation were measured in a replicated in vitro experiment with a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement of treatments. Treatments were adaptation of ruminal fluid donor steers (0 or 200 mg steer−1 d−1 of L, M or R) and culture ionophore treatment (0 or 4 μg mL−1 of L, M or a 50:50 ...
