DKK1 Targeting in Corneal Schwann Cells Rescues Axonal Regeneration and Mechanosensory Function After Corneal Injury

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 6, June 2026.
The schematic illustrates that corneal injury imparted by a stromal incision or by toxic chemical exposure causes corneal Schwann cells (cSCs) and axons to degenerate rapidly, resulting in impaired mechanosensory function. We hypothesized that repair cSCs, which develop post injury, are an as‐yet‐untested cellular target for axonal regeneration.

Topical rosiglitazone is an effective anti-scarring agent in the cornea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Corneal scarring remains a major cause of blindness world-wide, with limited treatment options, all of which have side-effects. Here, we tested the hypothesis that topical application of Rosiglitazone, a Thiazolidinedione and ligand of peroxisome ...

Reversal of laser in situ keratomileusis interface fluid after Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty for pseudophakic bullous keratopathy

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
To report a case of interface fluid syndrome (IFS) after laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in a patient with Anterior chamber intraocular lens (ACIOL) induced corneal decompensation treated with Descemet's stripping automated endothelial ...

Myopia Development and Control: An Integrative Review of Genetic, Optical, and Environmental Mechanisms With Implications for Personalized Intervention

open access: yesEye &ENT Research, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 11-28, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Myopia is a rapidly growing global health challenge, affecting 1.9 billion people and projected to reach 4.9 billion by 2050, with high myopia and its sight‐threatening complications such as maculopathy, retinal detachment, and glaucoma increasing disproportionately.

A review of angle kappa and multifocal intraocular lenses and their effect on visual outcomes

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page e122-e138, March 2026.
Abstract Although most patients are satisfied with their vision after multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, dissatisfaction has been reported for various reasons, including poor visual outcomes and visual disturbances. Many published reports hypothesise that preoperative angle kappa may be an associated factor in patient dissatisfaction ...

Peripheral Melt of Flap after Laser in situ Keratomileusis

open access: yes, 1998
BACKGROUND: Laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is an effective procedure to correct myopia. It may have complications related to the flap, such as epithelial ingrowth and stromal melt.

Ocular Surface Microbiota Alterations Following FS‐LASIK and Their Association With Postoperative Dry Eye

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Purpose Given the limited evidence on ocular surface microbiota (OSM) changes after femtosecond laser‐assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS‐LASIK) and their link to dry eye (DE), this study aimed to compare microbial profiles in patients with and without postoperative DE, offering a basis for early detection and targeted treatment.
