Magnetic Properties of Fe-Si Electrical Steel after Laser Scribing [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials
Improvement of magnetic properties of electrical steel can be achieved by reduction the size of magnetic domains. The application of local stresses through laser scribing leads to reduced core losses.

Silver‐Alloyed Wide‐Bandgap (Ag,Cu)(In,Ga)S2 Thin‐Film Solar Cells With 15.5% Efficiency

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This study reports improvements in compositional homogeneity, microstructure, enhanced radiative recombination, and extended carrier lifetime of CIGS absorber via Ag incorporation. The optimal Ag‐alloyed CIGS solar cells achieve 15.5% PCE and 948 mV VOC, competing with the VOC of the Ag‐free reference sample from the same batch.

New approaches to edge passivation of laser cut PERC solar cells

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics
Recently the development trend in the PV industry is towards much larger wafer formats. With increasing wafer area and the resulting increase in short-circuit current at the cell level, there is also a trend towards sub-cells (solar cell cut into smaller

Depth-prediction method for direct laser-scribing processes

open access: yesApplied Surface Science, 2017
Many semiconductor technologies require the patterning of films to create features not easily achieved during growth or deposition. In the case of transparent conductive oxides (TCOs), this is typically realized through direct laser-scribing. Although there are models conceived to predict the depth of a scribe, the necessary parameters to obtain a ...

MXene 3D‐AJP: Three‐Dimensional Well‐Oriented Freeform Networks of 2D MXene Nanosheets via Aerosol‐Based 3D Printing

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents an additive‐free aerosol jet 3D printing technique for assembling 2D MXene nanosheets into complex, customizable, high‐aspect‐ratio 3D microarchitectures without binders. By leveraging real‐time ink thickening, the authors also fabricate 3D microsupercapacitors with interdigitated electrodes that holds breakthrough device areal ...

Glass breaking strength: The role of surface flaws and treatments [PDF]

open access: yes
Although the intrinsic strength of silicon dioxide glass is of the order of 10 to the 6th power lb/sq in, the practical strength is roughly two orders of magnitude below this theoretical limit, and depends almost entirely on the surface condition of the ...

AstroECP: towards more practical electron channeling contrast imaging

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
We explore and address many of the major challenges associated with using electron channeling contrast imaging in a scanning electron microscope, with the goal of more easily revealing and characterizing crystalline defects such as dislocations.Electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) is a scanning electron microscope based technique which enables ...

First Flexible All‐Perovskite Tandem Minimodule Using Au‐Free Recombination Junction

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Through the development of a thin‐indium tin oxide recombination layer with a high lateral resistance combined with a compact SnO2 buffer layer, stacking MA‐free wide bandgap and narrow bandgap subcells is successfully achieved. Also, thanks to the implementation of a suitable laser scribing process, 11 cm2 all‐perovskite tandem minimodules are ...
