Ultra Compact and Broadband Fiber Facet Graphene Oxide Microlens Array Fabricated on a Beam‐Expanding Fiber Facet Using Femtosecond Laser Direct Writing Technique

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 15, 13 August 2026.
A 400 nm graphene oxide film on a beam‐expanding fiber facet is patterned by femtosecond laser direct writing into a 19‐lens microlens array. The device simultaneously splits a single input beam into multiple 0.67–0.74 NA focus spots with a broadband response from 850 to 1550 nm.

Shannon Entropy and Lévy Statistics for Machine Learning‐Assisted Spectral Sensing in Random Fiber Lasers With Magnetic Core–Shell Nanoscatterers

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 15, 13 August 2026.
Random laser emission was observed in a polymer optical fiber structure doped with magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 core–shell nanoparticles. A direct relationship was demonstrated between Shannon entropy and Lévy statistics regarding intensity fluctuations in the emission modes. The analysis indicated a potential application in a proposed magnetic field and energy

A Hybrid Computational Framework for PCF‐based SPR Sensor With Machine Learning and xAI

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 15, 4 August 2026.
A photonic crystal fiber‐based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor integrating rectangular air holes along with conventional circular air holes achieves exceptional wavelength sensitivity of 15,000 nm/RIU across a broad refractive index range of 1.31–1.39. Integrated machine learning with explainable AI (xAI) models achieves high prediction accuracy

Compact Fourier‐Transform Spectrometer on Thin‐Film Lithium Niobate via Mode‐Circulating Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
Schematic diagram of the proposed compact on‐chip Fourier‐transform spectrometer on thin‐film lithium niobate that exploits mode‐circulating electro‐optic modulation, in which guided light is sequentially converted among multiple spatial modes to accumulate multiple phase modulation events within a single physical modulation arm.

Intrinsic Focus‐Like Light Concentration From Anti‐Resonant Hollow‐Core Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
The fundamental mode of hollow‐core waveguides is shown to produce intrinsic focus‐like light concentration in free space without external optics. Combined experiments and simulations reveal that this behavior originates from the non‐Gaussian nature of leaky modes, establishing a new mechanism for lensless beam shaping and compact optical interfacing ...

Fast Reconfigurable Optical Directed Logic Chip Using 2 × 2 Optical Switch on SOI Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
We demonstrated a compact and power‐efficient EO optical switch on silicon platform with microring resonators. The microring resonators are arranged with a strictly nonblocking crossbar architecture. Through detailed analysis and testing, this switch not only performs the function of switching routing but also realizes the function of several logic ...

Hexagonal Hollow‐Core Photonic Crystal Fiber for High‐Sensitivity Terahertz Glucose Detection

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
A novel hexagonal hollow‐core photonic crystal fiber (HPhCF) operating at 2.2 THz is proposed for rapid, non‐invasive detection of urinary glucose. The Zeonex‐based hollow‐core architecture enhances light‐analyte interaction, enabling 96.90% relative sensitivity while maintaining ultra‐low confinement loss and low effective material loss.
