Laser-cooled polyatomic molecules for improved electron electric dipole moment searches
Doppler and Sisyphus cooling of ^174 YbOH are achieved and studied. This polyatomic molecule has high sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model and represents a new class of species for future high-precision probes of new T-violating physics.

Determination of CaOH and CaOCH3 vibrational branching ratios for direct laser cooling and trapping
Alkaline earth monoalkoxide free radicals (MORs) have molecular properties conducive to direct laser cooling to sub-millikelvin temperatures. Using dispersed laser induced fluorescence measurements from a pulsed supersonic molecular beam source we ...

Resonance Raman optical cycling for high-fidelity fluorescence detection of molecules
We propose and demonstrate a technique that combines Raman scattering and optical cycling in molecules with diagonal Franck-Condon factors. This resonance Raman optical cycling manipulates molecules to behave like efficient fluorophores, with discrete ...

Laser Cooling of Lanthanides: from Optical Clocks to Quantum Simulators
We discuss current progress in laser cooling of lanthanides (Er, Yb, Dy, Tm etc.) focusing on applications. We describe some important peculiarities taking Thulium atom as an example: Two stage laser cooling, trapping in an optical lattice, anisotropic ...

Analysis of Narrow-Line Laser Cooling and Trapping of Sr Atoms in Microgravity Environments
Obtaining ultracold alkaline earth(-like) atoms in space encounters the problem of performing narrow-line laser cooling in microgravity environments ( μ -gEs).

The self-comparison method is a powerful tool in the uncertainty evaluation of optical lattice clocks, but any drifts will cause a frequency offset between the two compared clock loops and thus lead to incorrect measurement result.

Experiments in Cavity QED: Exploring the Interaction of Quantized Light with a Single Trapped Atom [PDF]
The experiments discussed in this thesis focus on the interaction of a single trapped atom with the single mode of a high-finesse optical cavity, in the regime of strong coupling.
