Narrow-line magneto-optical cooling and trapping of strongly magnetic atoms [PDF]
Laser cooling on weak transitions is a useful technique for reaching ultracold temperatures in atoms with multiple valence electrons. However, for strongly magnetic atoms a conventional narrow-line magneto-optical trap (MOT) is destabilized by ...

Micro‐injection laser‐assisted bioprinting enables ultrafast and precise patterning of small endothelial cell spheroids by injecting a highly concentrated single‐cell suspension into GelMA/ColMA hydrogels. In co‐culture with fibroblasts, controlled pre‐vasculogenic network formation is obtained at microscale resolution.

Isotopologue-selective laser cooling of molecules
Direct laser cooling of molecules has made significant progress in recent years. However, the selective cooling and manipulation of generic molecular samples based on their isotopic composition, which is ubiquitous in atomic laser cooling, has not yet ...

Antihydrogen trapping assisted by sympathetically cooled positrons
Antihydrogen, the bound state of an antiproton and a positron, is of interest for use in precision tests of nature's fundamental symmetries. Antihydrogen formed by carefully merging cold plasmas of positrons and antiprotons has recently been trapped in ...

Sum-frequency generation of 589 nm light with near-unit efficiency
We report on a laser source at 589 nm based on sum-frequency generation of two infrared laser at 1064 nm and 1319 nm. Output power as high as 800 mW are achieved starting from 370 mW at 1319 nm and 770 mW at 1064 nm, corresponding to converting roughly ...

Frequency stability of a wavelength meter and applications to laser frequency stabilization [PDF]
Interferometric wavelength meters have attained frequency resolutions down to the MHz range. In particular, Fizeau interferometers, which have no moving parts, are becoming a popular tool for laser characterization and stabilization.

We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Prospects for a narrow line MOT in YO
In addition to being suitable for laser cooling and trapping in a magneto-optical trap (MOT) using a relatively broad $(\sim 5\;{\rm MHz})$ transition, the molecule YO possesses a narrow-line transition.

Laser cooling with a single laser beam and a planar diffractor
A planar triplet of diffraction gratings is used to transform a single laser beam into a four-beam tetrahedral magneto-optical trap. This `flat' pyramid diffractor geometry is ideal for future microfabrication.

Magnetic Trapping and Coherent Control of Laser-Cooled Molecules [PDF]
We demonstrate coherent microwave control of the rotational, hyperfine and Zeeman states of ultracold CaF molecules, and the magnetic trapping of these molecules in a single, selectable quantum state. We trap about $5\times 10^{3}$ molecules for 2 s at a temperature of 65(11) $ $K and a density of $1.2 \times 10^{5}$ cm$^{-3}$.
