Diode laser and endoscopic laser surgery

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 2002
Two functionally important differences exist between the diode laser and the carbon dioxide (CO2) laser (used more commonly in small animal surgery). Diode laser energy is delivered through a quartz fiber instead of being reflected through an articulated arm or waveguide.

Diode Laser Welding of Polyethylene

Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 2008
A high-power diode laser (HPDL) was used to weld high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets. Laser-welded joints were fabricated with different values of laser power and scan speed. Hot-tool welding was also employed to fabricate joints to make a comparison between this consolidated technology and HPDL welding.

Semiconductor Diode Laser Endophotocoagulation

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1989
ABSTRACT We successfully used a semiconductor diode laser to deliver endophotocoagulation burns to the retina of a rabbit. The diode laser employed emits light at a wavelength of 817 nm (near infrared). It has a power output of up to 1.0 W in the continuous-wave mode, equivalent to the capability of current argon laser endophotocoagulators. A

Laser-diode holographic recording

Optics Letters, 1986
We report the recording of optical holograms in both holographic plate films and thermoplastic film using a commercial single-mode laser diode having a wavelength of 787.3 nm. Holographic film characteristics and laser-diode coherence length studies as well as experimental results with simple plane-wave holograms are discussed.

Understanding Lasers, Laser Diodes, Laser Diode Packaging and Their Relationship to Tungsten Copper

2012
The backbone of modern telecommunications is optical fibers. For each end of every optical fiber, there is one laser or laser diode transmitting the light and one photo detector to decode the signals. As Internet traffic expands and the transmission distance increases, more and more designs are using higher and higher power lasers or laser diodes. Once

Diode Lasers In Optical Computing

SPIE Proceedings, 1989
Basic parameters of DL, writing and reconstruction of holograms, holographic memory on DL, generation of picosecond pulses, bistability and logic gates, integration of DL with electronic circuits and an example of optical interconnection by OEIC and waveguiding holograms are presented.

High Power Laser Diodes

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2004
The 20-year-evolution of high-power laser diodes with a multitude of device designs that explore various practical applications is presented. The four major applications for high-power diode lasers, namely pumps for EDFAs, YAG rods, disk lasers and fiber lasers have a tremendous impact on the selection process in this evolution.

The Laser Diode

1979
The light emitting diode of chapter 2 can be modulated to act as the source in an optical communication system. The primary disadvantage of using an LED in such a system is that it emits light over a relatively wide range of wavelengths — the relative width of an LED’s emission is typically around 5 per cent.

Commercialization of high power diode lasers and diode pumped lasers

Proceedings of LEOS '93, 2002
McDonnell Douglas has delivered diode-pumped lasers for space and military applications, and started in 1991 to develop lasers for the commercial marketplace. This paper describes the development at McDonnell Douglas of their commercial laser products of high power direct diode laser systems and diode pumped solid state lasers. Through a combination of
