Experimental Investigation of Laser-Drilled Holes Variations Depending on Laser Drilling Parameters
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Parameters on a CO2 laser machine effects the variations on hole diameters. In this study, a CO2 laser machine is used for drilling processes. Processing parameters are selected between 1.2-4 mm workpiece thickness, 2500-4000 W laser output power, -4 to 2 laser focus setting, 8-14 bar assisted gas pressure and 500-1200 Hz laser frequency.

Femtosecond Laser Drilling of Alumina Wafers
Journal of Electronic Materials, 2009The topography, radial spread, and chemical composition of the slag produced during percussion and trepanning hole drilling techniques using femtosecond laser were investigated. Results of analyses by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersion spectroscopy are presented.

Laser-drilled multichannel multidepth extracellular microelectrodes
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1986The paper describes the construction and characteristics of a new multichannel, multidepth microelectrode designed for extracellular biopotential recording. The electrode is constructed from a group of six borosilicate glass capillary tubes which are hot drawn to form 40–50 μm tubes.

Femtosecond laser-drilling-induced HgCdTe photodiodes
Optics Letters, 2010Femtosecond-laser drilling may induce holes in HgCdTe with morphology similar to that induced by ion-milling in loophole technique. So-formed hole structures are proven to be pn junction diodes by the laser beam induced current characterization as well as the conductivity measurement. Transmission and photoluminescence spectral measurements on a n-type

There is no comnon denominator for non-traditional holemaking. Each process has its own unique capability. This document is concerned with the high-power Nd:YAG solid-state laser product as it is used in the material process industry. Economical comparisons and abilities to drill at shallow entry angles to a surface are discussed, and the range of hole

Laser pulse optimization for practical laser drilling
Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 1994Abstract Laser drilling is a common commercially developed technique for material processing. From the application viewpoint, it is the end product for a laser system, for instance a drilled hole, that matters. Laser pulse profile is the most important parameter controlling the laser hole drilling process.

Laser percussion drilling modeling utility
Journal of Laser Applications, 2009Laser percussion drilling is widely used in the aerospace industry to produce cooling holes in jet engine components. A variety of theoretical models have been developed to predict the outcome of the drilling process. However, to utilize these models often requires sophisticated software to perform the required numerical analyses.

Laser drilling of nickel alloys
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1985Summary form only given. Pure nickel, Hastealloy X, and Inconel 718 alloys were laser drilled to a depth of 0. 8 in. A pulsed CO//2 laser was used for drilling. The operating parameters that were varied included voltage, pulse width, and repetition rate. Holes were drilled in specimens 1/4 multiplied by 1/4 multiplied by 0. 8 in.

Laser Drilling on Elastomeric Polymers
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Elastomeric polymers have been used as moulds for fabricating micro structures in the soft lithography technology due to their elastic features and unstickiness to polymer features. Previously, the micro moulds were normally produced by imprinting on micro prototypes, which are fabricated using deep reactive etching or photolithography.

Controlling efficiency of laser drilling
2014 9th International Microsystems, Packaging, Assembly and Circuits Technology Conference (IMPACT), 2014This study theoretically identifies the conditions for the keyhole collapse during drilling with a high intensity laser beam. Laser drilling is widely used in components, packaging and manufacturing technologies [1,2]. The approach adapted is to probe the quasi-steady, one-dimensional supersonic flow behavior of the two-phase, vapor-liquid dispersion ...
