Automated Profiling Method for Laser Fault Injection in FPGAs
2019Obtaining a knowledge of internal structure of a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), together with the vulnerable spots that can be targeted by a laser fault injection, can be a time-consuming task when done manually. In this chapter, we present an automated method to identify regions of interest in an FPGA, such as logic arrays and cells.

However, very few countermeasures against LFI have been proposed in previous literature. In this paper, a logic-level countermeasure for sensing the malicious laser injection on FPGA is presented.

On fault injections for early security evaluation vs. laser-based attacks
2016 1st IEEE International Verification and Security Workshop (IVSW), 2016Circuits with security constraints must be protected against hardware attacks, including laser-based perturbations. Early evaluations at design time are required to avoid costly and time consuming modifications that might be required after actual laser attacks on the first prototypes.
