Fox–Fordyce disease: Insights from cases induced by laser hair removal

open access: yes, 2019
Dear Editor, Fox–Fordyce disease is a chronic papular eruption that affects the axillae and other regions bearing apocrine glands.1 Its pathogenesis has remained elusive since its first description in 1902.

Laser-assisted Hair Removal

open access: yes, 2015
Current options for hair removal include shaving, epilation, depilatories, electrolysis, and, more efficiently, lasers. Lasers are fast, safe, and effective when used appropriately. Selective photothermolysis is the key concept in laser hair removal.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.
