Wire-Feeding Based Additive Manufacturing of the Ti–6Al–4V Alloy. Part I. Microstructure
In recent years, metal additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is grown massively in the industry. The ability of AM to build parts directly from the digital representation makes it an excellent alternative compared to traditional ...

Hot-wire Laser Welding of Deep and Wide Gaps
AbstractHeavy section Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) usually requires special edge preparation and several passes. One alternative for increased performance is Laser Arc Hybrid Welding (LAHW). For very thick sheets however, imperfections like root drops or solidification cracks can occur.

Welding Phenomena during Vertical Welding on Thick Steel Plate using Hot-wire Laser Welding Method
The objective of this research was to develop a single-pass vertical welding process for thick steel plates using hot-wire laser welding to reduce the heat input. A laser diode with a large rectangular beam spot and twin hot-wire feeding system were used.

Metal Waste Dusts from Mechanical Workings – Explosibility Parameters Investigation
The reactivity of metal scraps or fine particles, typical residual wastes of mechanical workings, is significantly high to cause violent deflagration when particles disperse in the air in the form of clouds.

AbstractCladdings are used to protect areas of components that are exposed to particular chemical, physical or tribological stresses. The aim when developing a cladding process is to achieve a cladding with low waviness in order to reduce the amount of machining required.

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Laser Metal Powder Deposition of Titanium Microalloyed HSLA Steel FeC0.12Si0.25Mn1.3
This study investigates the additive manufacturing of titanium‐doped high‐strength low‐alloy (HSLA) steel via laser metal deposition. It reveals distinct process‐structure relationships for elemental powder blends compared to prealloyed feedstocks.
