Planar laser induced fluorescence for temperature measurement of optical thermocavitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Pulsed laser-induced cavitation, has been the subject of many studies describing bubble growth, collapse and ensuing shock waves. To a lesser extent, hydrodynamics of continuous wave (CW) cavitation or thermocavitation have also been reported.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Michelson-type all-reflective interferometric autocorrelation in the VUV regime

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We demonstrate second-order interferometric autocorrelation of a pulse in the vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) spectral range using an optical arrangement equivalent to a Michelson interferometer. In an all-reflective design, wavefront splitting is realized with

Solar retinal phototoxicity masquerading as self-inflicted handheld laser-induced lesions

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2020
Purpose: To report multimodal imaging of lesions due to the unprotected observation of the sun with an astronomical telescope, mimicking self-inflicted handheld laser-induced macular lesions.

Reflection confocal nanoscopy using a super-oscillatory lens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A Superoscillatory lens (SOL) is known to produce a sub-diffraction hotspot which is useful for high-resolution imaging. However, high-energy rings called sidelobes coexist with the central hotspot.

Laser Doppler imaging of microflow

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2006
We report a pilot study with a wide-field laser Doppler detection scheme used to perform laser Doppler anemometry and imaging of particle-seeded microflow. The optical field carrying the local scatterers (particles) dynamic state, as a consequence of momentum transfer at each scattering event, is analyzed in the temporal frequencies domain.

Speckles in laser Doppler perfusion imaging [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2006
We report on the quantitative influence of speckles in laser Doppler perfusion imaging. The influence of speckles on the signal amplitude and on the Doppler spectrum is demonstrated experimentally for particle suspensions with different scattering levels and various beam widths.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

In vivo laser Doppler holography of the human retina

open access: yes, 2018
The eye offers a unique opportunity for non-invasive exploration of cardiovascular diseases. Optical angiography in the retina requires sensitive measurements, which hinders conventional full-field laser Doppler imaging schemes.

Quantum dot enabled thermal imaging of optofluidic devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Quantum dot thermal imaging has been used to analyse the chromatic dependence of laser-induced thermal effects inside optofluidic devices with monolithically integrated near-infrared waveguides. We demonstrate how microchannel optical local heating plays
