He–Ne laser wavelength-shifting interferometry
Optics Communications, 2010The use of wavelength-shifting interferometry with a He-Ne laser source is presented. The approach is based on the thermal expansion of the laser cavity during the warm-up time, in conjunction with an unequal path interferometric configuration. The optics principles are reviewed, and a demonstrative measurement is presented.

Focused Laser Differential Interferometry
2021The focused laser differential interferometer (FLDI) is a non-imaging optical diagnostic that is sensitive to density disturbances. A distinguishing feature is reduced sensitivity away from the focal plane of its beams. The spatial resolution is sub-mm, and the temporal resolution is restricted only by photodetector bandwidth, typically >10 MHz ...

Broadband laser enhanced dual-beam interferometry
Optics Letters, 2012We demonstrate a dual-beam, balanced detector approach, compatible with commercial Fourier transform infrared spectrometers that provide a single modulated output. Implemented with a near-IR mode-locked fiber laser source and an external broadband polarizing beamsplitter, the dual-beam method provides relative intensity noise reduction and real-time ...

Diode lasers for interferometry
Precision Engineering, 1989Abstract The spectral properties of commercially-available GaAlAs diode lasers have been investigated. The results show that for the use of diode lasers in interferometers some criteria, which are discussed here, must be fulfilled. The emitted frequency of diode lasers is stabilized by holding constant or coupling their parameters, current and ...

Multipass Laser Interferometry for Plasma Studies
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1971A simple matrix optic theory of multipass laser interferometers shows how a relatively vibration proof system can be easily set up. Measurements made with such systems of the decay of a helium plasma are presented.

Multiwavelength laser interferometry with semiconductor laser source
SPIE Proceedings, 2010First set-up of the laser interferometer with tunable semiconductor laser is presented. To reduce the influence of the index of refraction of air, the design of optical set-up of the experimental interferometer is realized using fiber optics. VCSEL diodes (Vertical Surface Emitting Laser) and DFB laser diodes (Distributed FeedBack) were used in our ...

III Interferometry with Lasers
1987Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on interferometry with lasers. The development of the laser made available for the first time an intense source of light with a remarkably high degree of spatial and temporal coherence. The use of lasers has removed most of the limitations of interferometers imposed by thermal sources and has led to the ...

Pulse Laser Holographic Interferometry
1971In the expectation that other speakers at this symposium will have thoroughly discussed the physical information that refractive measurements provide in the study of gas dynamics, the emphasis in the present contribution is entirely on the holographic techniques by which refractivity can be measured.
