A tutorial on laser interferometry for precision measurements
2013 American Control Conference, 2013Laser interferometers have found wide usage in a variety of precision measurement applications. The ability to gain precise position information with minimal change to the dynamics of the device being measured has a large set of advantages. This allows interferometer systems to be used in feedback loops for precision systems.

Parallel multiplex laser feedback interferometry
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013We present a parallel multiplex laser feedback interferometer based on spatial multiplexing which avoids the signal crosstalk in the former feedback interferometer. The interferometer outputs two close parallel laser beams, whose frequencies are shifted by two acousto-optic modulators by 2Ω simultaneously. A static reference mirror is inserted into one

Publisher Summary This chapter presents a phase-measuring technique in an unbalanced interferometer using direct frequency modulation of laser diodes (LD) sources by changing currents. The wavelength is stepwise, sinusoidally changed to introduce a time-varying phase difference between the two beams of the interferometer.

Multipass Laser Interferometry for Plasma Studies
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1971A simple matrix optic theory of multipass laser interferometers shows how a relatively vibration proof system can be easily set up. Measurements made with such systems of the decay of a helium plasma are presented.

III Interferometry with Lasers
1987Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on interferometry with lasers. The development of the laser made available for the first time an intense source of light with a remarkably high degree of spatial and temporal coherence. The use of lasers has removed most of the limitations of interferometers imposed by thermal sources and has led to the ...

Pulsed HF Laser Holographic Interferometry
Applied Optics, 1975Two-dimensional holographic interferometry has been accomplished at wavelengths near 3 microm. The source is a pulsed hydrogen fluoride oscillator-amplifier system. Transverse excitation is achieved with a fast bank discharging into a simple electrode configuration.

Michelson interferometry with a diode laser
American Journal of Physics, 2022A typical Fabry–Pérot diode laser is used to study the relationship between the laser spectrum and the interference signal obtained from a Michelson interferometer. The interference signal is measured over a range of path length differences of a few centimeters, and the laser spectrum is obtained with a spectrometer of a high resolution of 0.005 nm ...

An Electronic Quadrature Technique for Laser Interferometry
Applied Optics, 1967The (LFI) Laser Feedback Interferometer consists of a cw laser and an external retroreflector (Fig. 1). This interferometer has the advantage of requiring no tedious alignment other than that of positioning the retroreflector so that the returned laser beam is approximately centered.

Laser sources and laser interferometry with optical fibers
SPIE Proceedings, 2011At present time the DFB (Distributed FeeBack), VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) and FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) based laser diodes are suitable like laser source for using in laser interferometry. Their linewidth of the emission spectrum and the mode-hop free tuning range of the wavelength are crucial parameters for laser sources in laser

Imaging focused laser differential interferometry
Optics LettersFocused laser differential interferometry (FLDI) is an important diagnostic for measuring density fluctuations in high-speed flows. Currently, however, high dynamic range FLDI is limited to photodiode measurements. In order to spatially resolve multiple locations within complex flows, we present a novel, to the best of our knowledge, refractive-optic ...
