Delayed hyphema after argon laser iridectomy.

A 77-year-old black woman without neovascularization developed spontaneous hyphema two days after laser iridectomy. Bleeding originated at the site of iridectomy. This complication has not been previously reported.

To our knowledge, this is the first case report wherein visual acuity was lost after peripheral laser iridectomy. Certain facts surrounding this particular event are unusual and may help to broaden our understanding of the mechanism of "snuff".
