Hydrogen-Related Conversion Processes of Ge-Related Point Defects in Silica Triggered by UV Laser Irradiation

open access: yes, 2005
The conversion processes of Ge-related point defects triggered in amorphous SiO2 by 4.7eV laser exposure were investigated. Our study has focused on the interplay between the (=Ge•-H) H(II) center and the twofold coordinated Ge defect (=Ge• ...

Epitaxial growth of deposited amorphous layer by laser annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
We demonstrate that a single short pulse of laser irradiation of appropriate energy is capable of recrystallizing in open air an amorphous Si layer deposited on a (100) single-crystal substrate into an epitaxial layer. The laser pulse annealing technique

Thermal analysis of multilayer dielectric grating with high power laser irradiation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We have established a thermal distribution model of the multilayer dielectric grating with laser irradiation based on the Beer–Lambert theory and the thermal conduction theory.

Numerical and experimental investigation on pulsed nanosecond laser ablation processing of aluminum alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The laser ablation of aluminum alloy 6061 was studied both experimentally and by computational modeling in this work. Six variations of the number of pulses of irradiation (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 pulses) combined with four different laser fluence (2.0

Enhanced cancer therapy with cold-controlled drug release and photothermal warming enabled by one nanoplatform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Stimuli-responsive nanoparticles hold great promise for drug delivery to improve the safety and efficacy of cancer therapy. One of the most investigated stimuli-responsive strategies is to induce drug release by heating with laser, ultrasound, or ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

H(II) centers in natural silica under repeated UV laser irradiations

open access: yes, 2004
We investigated the kinetics of H(II) centers (=Ge'-H) in natural silica under repeated 266nm UV irradiations performed by a Nd:YAG pulsed laser. UV photons temporarily destroy these paramagnetic defects, their reduction being complete within 250 pulses.

Heat profiles of laser-irradiated nails

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2014
Onychomycosis is a worldwide problem with no tendency for self-healing, and existing systemic treatments achieve disease-free nails in only 35 to 76% of cases. Recently, treatment of nail fungus with a near-infrared laser has been introduced. It is assumed that fungal eradication is mediated by local heat.

The photoswitchable cannabinoid azo‐HU308 enables optical control of Ca2+ dynamics in INS‐1 β‐cells via off‐target effects on TRPC channels

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Light activation of the photoswitchable cannabinoid ligand azo‐HU308 triggers Ca2+ influx in pancreatic β‐cells through TRPC channels, independent of CB2 cannabinoid receptors. This reveals a non‐GPCR pathway for cannabinoid modulation of β‐cell Ca2+ dynamics and establishes azo‐HU308 as an optical tool to study cannabinoid signaling through TRP ...

Thermal effects investigation on electrical properties of silicon solar cells treated by laser irradiation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Renewable Energy Development, 2014
In this paper, we were investigated electrical properties of monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar cells due to laser irradiation with 650 nm wavelength in two states, proximate irradiation and via optics setup.
