Laser irradiation in aviation transport [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Technical Review, 2020
The high level of security and safety areas in air transport is due to the continuous detection of threats and risks and the adoption of measures to cut them. The media significance of aviation attacks and the potential threat to passengers and crew leads responsible national and international authorities to carry out measures across states. The active

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Demonstrating Thermal Propagation Test for Battery Pack for PHEV with Laser Irradiation as Initiation Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Engineering, 2022
The use of laser irradiation for heating is characterized by localized heating and high power density heating, which make the method suitable for conducting thermal propagation tests for battery packs for electrified vehicles.

LASER IRRADIATION EFFECTS IN SUPERCONDUCTORS [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1978
We have studied the behaviour of a thin film Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) and of a bi-metallic superconducting loop under laser light irradiation. We find that the experimental data can be explained by simple thermal heating without assuming the existence of non-thermal non-equilibrium quasiparticle distribution.

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Large-area fabrication of low- and high-spatial-frequency laser-induced periodic surface structures on carbon fibers

open access: yes, 2018
The formation and properties of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) were investigated on carbon fibers under irradiation of fs-laser pulses characterized by a pulse duration $\tau$ = 300 fs and a laser wavelength $\lambda$ = 1025 nm.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...
