A range scanner with a virtual laser
Image and Vision Computing, 2003Abstract A scanner is developed that can capture range and color data from four sides of an object and combine the data into a model of the object. The scanner has four synchronous heads that scan an object from four sides in a coordinate system that is attached to the object.

This contribution describes our work focused on using a laser scanner for a railway application. In the work the laser scanner SICK LD-HD MRS400102 is used and tested on suspended mining locomotive of Ferrit, s.r.o. company. The scanner is tested for detecting an object in front of the locomotive operating in mining conditions.
