Confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope

Applied Optics, 1987
A confocal scanning imager moves an illumination spot over the object and a (virtual) detector synchronously over the image. In the confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope this is accomplished by reusing the source optics for detection. The common optical elements are all mirrors-either flat or spherical-and the scanners are positioned to compensate ...

Rapid-scanning laser receiver

Applied Optics, 1975
A random-access rapid-scanning laser receiver concept utilizing the acoustooptic effect and suitable for applications from the near uv through the long-wave ir region was designed and demonstrated in the field at a 10.6-microm laser radar. Experimental results demonstrating its utility for image detection, radar, atmospheric optics measurements, and ...

Reflectometry with a scanning laser ophthalmoscope

Applied Optics, 1992
We describe noninvasive techniques to optimize reflectometry measurements, particularly retinal densitometry, which measures the photopigment density difference. With these techniques unwanted scattered light is greatly reduced, and the retina is visualized during measurements.

Digital scanning laser microscope

Applied Optics, 1985
A digital scanning laser microscope system, capable of scanning a specimen at high speed, has been developed. The system can display a reflected, transmitted, or photoinduced mode of the scanning laser micrograph size 512 × 512 pixels on a conventional TV monitor within 10 sec.

Scanned Laser Infrared Microscope

Applied Optics, 1970
In examination of ir-transmitting materials, internal irregularities and inclusions of foreign material can be detected by their effect upon the ir transmittance of the material. A scanning laser ir microscope has been constructed which produces, on an oscilloscope display, a shadowgraph picture of the ir transmittance of the material under examination.

Laser Trabeculodissection With a Photopolishing Scanning Excimer Laser

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2000
Abstract. A phase I study of nonpenetrating trabeculectomy (Zimmerman procedure) using a scanning excimer laser system was conducted to evaluate the ability of this laser system to achieve the deep dissection required to allow significant filtration without inadvertent penetration into the anterior chamber.

Improving sparse laser scan alignment with Virtual Scans

2008 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2008
We present a system to increase the performance of feature correspondence based alignment algorithms for laser scan data. Alignment approaches for robot mapping, like ICP or FFS, perform successfully only under the condition of sufficient overlap of features between individual scans.

A Laser-Driven Scanning Tunneling Microscope

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1991
New modes of operation of a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) with laser radiation coupled into the tip of the tunneling junction are demonstrated. The dc current generated by rectifying the laser light and the difference-frequency signal produced in the STM by two laser beams are used to obtain atomic-resolution surface images of graphite, as well ...

Laser scanning fluorescence microscopy

Applied Optics, 1987
Fluorescence laser scanning microscopy (LSM) offers many advantages over conventional fluorescence microscopy. Very strong excitation light can be concentrated on small spots (0.5 microm) of the specimen, enabling the detection of low concentrations of fluorescent substances.

Holographic Laser Scanning Microscopy

2017
We realize a new optical microscopy technique (Holographic Laser Scanning Microscopy, H-LSM) based on holographic laser scanning illumination of the sample. In each scanning step, a multispot illumination pattern is generated by phase modulating a laser beam via Computer Generated Holography (CGH).
