A Miniaturized Platform for Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, 2012Imaging the brain in animal models enables scientists to unravel new biological insights. Despite critical advancements in recent years, most laboratory imaging techniques comprise of bulky bench top apparatus that require the imaged animals to be anesthetized and immobilized.

Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging in Neurosurgery: A Systematic Review
World Neurosurgery, 2023Intraoperative study of blood flow in the brain vessels is among the most critical topics of modern neurosurgery. One of the promising methods for intraoperative monitoring of blood flow is laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI). This systematic review aims to analyze the experience of using intraoperative LSCI in neurosurgical interventions. The ...

Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging: Theory, Instrumentation and Applications
IEEE Reviews in Biomedical Engineering, 2013Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging (LSCI) is a wide field of view, non scanning optical technique for observing blood flow. Speckles are produced when coherent light scattered back from biological tissue is diffracted through the limiting aperture of focusing optics.

Noise Model for Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging
Biomedical Optics, 2006We have developed a noise model for laser speckle contrast imaging. Its dependence on the sliding window size, exposure time, beta, and correlation time is revealed. The accuracy of the model is tested with experiments.

Quantitative single-exposure laser speckle contrast imaging
Optics in Health Care and Biomedical Optics VIII, 2018Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is a well-established blood flow imaging technique, through the computed whole field contrast map. Though LSCI offers high spatial and temporal resolution, accurate quantification of blood flow remains a challenge.

Noise analysis in laser speckle contrast imaging
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is becoming an established method for full-field imaging of blood flow dynamics in animal models. A reliable quantitative model with comprehensive noise analysis is necessary to fully utilize this technique in biomedical applications and clinical trials.

Contrast-enhanced imaging of cerebral vasculature with laser speckle
Applied Optics, 2007High-resolution cerebral vasculature imaging has applications ranging from intraoperative procedures to basic neuroscience research. Laser speckle, with spatial contrast processing, has recently been used to map cerebral blood flow. We present an application of the technique using temporal contrast processing to image cerebral vascular structures with ...

Laser speckle contrast imaging for assessment of liver microcirculation
Microvascular Research, 2013Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is a novel technique for microcirculation imaging not previously used in the liver. The aim of the present experimental study was to evaluate the use of LSCI for assessing liver microcirculation. In six male Wistar rats, the median liver lobe was exposed through a midline laparotomy.

Non-contact photoacoustic imaging using laser speckle contrast analysis
Optics Letters, 2019A novel method for non-contact and continuous detection of photoacoustic signals is presented and experimentally demonstrated. The approach is based on analysis of the contrast of time-varying speckle patterns, and suggests a more robust alternative in respect to interferometric and refractometric available solutions.
