Surface roughness measurement with laser triangulation

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
A surface roughness measurement method is introduced in the paper, which is based on laser triangulation and digital image processing technique. In the measuring system, we use the line-structured light as light source, microscope lens and high-accuracy CCD sensor as displacement sensor as well.

Improving laser triangulation sensors using polarization

Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 2002
We report a novel application of polarization based vision addressing the robustness of laser triangulation range sensors. Such sensors are based on the accurate detection of a pattern of laser light projected onto a scene, usually a point or line. Typical problems arise with highly specularly reflective surfaces, which can generate visible reflections

Calibration of high-speed imaging by laser triangulation

Logopedics Phoniatrics Vocology, 2004
A method was developed for absolute calibration of endoscopic vocal fold images using laser triangulation. The laser is attached to a rigid endoscope with 8-degrees angle in relation to the optical axis of the endoscope. A special software is used for calibration and measurements from high-speed images.

Surface sensitivity reduction in laser triangulation sensors

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Laser triangulation sensors offer a simple, non-contact and fast solution to measure displacement, position, vibration and thickness. However, these sensors are prone to target surface sensitivity since they rely heavily on a uniform back-scatter of the laser spot. Here, sources of measurement noise including surface texture, speckle, beam deflection

Measuring a distance with laser triangulation

European Journal of Physics, 1997
A plane mirror and a half-silvered mirror can be used with a laser source to measure distance, instead of moving the laser source itself. R?sum?. Un miroir de surface plane et un miroir a-demi argent? peuvent ?tre untilis?s avec une source laser afin de mesurer la distance, au lieu de d?placer la source laser elle-m?me.

Online Triangulation of Laser-Scan Data

2008
Hand-held laser scanners are used massively in industry for reverse engineering and quality measurements. In this process, it is difficult for the human operator to scan the target object completely and uniformly. Therefore, an interactive triangulation of the scanned points can assist the operator in this task.

Rail profile control using laser triangulation scanners

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Rail track geometric parameters measurement requires knowledge of left and right rail head location in each section. First of all displacement in transverse plane of rail head point located at a distance of 14 mm below the running surface, must be controlled [1].

No-touch pulse measurement by laser triangulation

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
This paper presents a non-invasive, non-contact measurement of pulse waveforms by applying optical triangulation technology on skin surface vibration. The arterial pulsation information can be obtained with this measurement system. An algorithm to evaluate the pulsing activities from center of laser spot intensity on a certain wrist point has been ...

Triangulation principles in confocal scanning laser systems

Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1990
Three-dimensional imaging of the vitreous and fundus provides important information for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. Topographic representation of the fundus is currently accomplished by means of stereophotogrammetry and confocal laser scanning microscopy. These two methods are compared with the new method of laser scanning triangulation,

Measuring crop biomass density by laser triangulation

Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2008
Information about site-specific crop parameters such plant height, coverage, and biomass density is important for optimising crop management and harvesting processes. Sensors for measuring crop parameters with an acceptable accuracy and high reliability at a reasonable price are essential prerequisite to obtain this information. In the last years laser
