Laser Physics and Laser Techniques.
1977Abstract : Substantial improvements have been made in the performance of the optically pumped 546.1 nm Hg laser. DC-pumped operation of sealed-off laser tubes has been demonstrated with no apparent lifetime limitations. Several new pump lamp designs have been developed and tested to overcome limitations set by emission line self-reversal, cataphoresis,

The first medical application of laser was reported by Dr Leon Goldman who, in 1962, reported the use of ruby and carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers in dermatology. In cardiovascular disease, early laser use was confined to cadaver vessels, animal models, and arteries located in freshly amputated limbs, until eventually work progressed to the use of laser ...

Urology, 1984
To date four laser wavelengths are commercially available which have urologic applications. The experience with all of these lasers is reviewed. The major urologic lesions treatable by the laser are: condylomata acuminata, superficial penile carcinoma, and bladder carcinoma. The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is most applicable for external genital lesions

Clinical Techniques in Small Animal Practice, 2004
The laser is a tool that will augment the surgical techniques available to the veterinarian. When using the laser compared with traditional surgery there are multiple procedures that can be performed with much greater ease, and some procedures that previously could not be performed.
