Weaker AMOC at the Last Glacial MaximumWeaker AMOC at the Last Glacial Maximum
2021Despite its role in heat, salt, and nutrient transport, the state of the Atlantic MeridionalOverturning Circulation (AMOC) at the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) is still debated. Here, using a carbon-isotope enabled Earth system model, we perform a series of LGM experiments in which the AMOC state is varied.

The European glacial landscapes prior to the Last Glacial Maximum - synthesis
2022Some of the most extensive glaciations of the Pleistocene occurred prior to the Last Glacial Cycle (LGC) such as during the Elsterian Stage (Marine Isotope Stage, MIS 12) and the Saalian Stage (MIS 6) of Northern Continental Europe. However, the evidence of glaciation prior to the LGC is mixed across Europe.

The Italian mountains: glacial landforms from the Last Glacial Maximum
2022The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) event has left evident traces in the mountains of the Italian peninsula, and well-preserved moraines are described in all sectors of the Apennines. Radiocarbon ages, stratigraphic markers, and exposure ages of moraine boulders have provided a coherent chronology.

Early Local Last Glacial Maximum in the Tropical Andes
Science, 2005The local last glacial maximum in the tropical Andes was earlier and less extensive than previously thought, based on 106 cosmogenic ages (from beryllium-10 dating) from moraines in Peru and Bolivia. Glaciers reached their greatest extent in the last glacial cycle ∼34,000 years before the present and were retreating by ∼21,000 years before the present,

The Anatolian Mountains: glacial landforms from the Last Glacial Maximum
2022Almost 180 years of research revealed that the glaciers expanded in the valleys of 36 mountains in Anatolia during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Today, glacial landforms are found in the Eastern Black Sea Mountains, Western Taurus Mountains, Central Taurus Mountains, Eastern Taurus, Eastern Anatolian Mountains, and in Northwestern and Central ...
