The LASY Preprocessor and Its Application to General Multidimensional Codes
Journal of Computational Physics, 1997We describe a new preprocessor by using the loop annotation syntax. One of the possible applications of this syntax is writing a general simulation code, where the number of grid dimensions is a parameter of the preprocessor. Programming language constructs, which would be normally repeated for each dimension separately, are annotated as loops in the ...

Research on LASIS interferogram processing
SPIE Proceedings, 2015The images obtained by large aperture static imaging spectrometer (LASIS) are two dimensional images which contain interference information. The acquisition of different places’ interferogram needs to pushbroom the whole field of view. Because of the instability of the pushbroom platform, the original LASIS image registration is required, and the ...

The benefits of the effective creation of Information Extraction (IE) in the last ten years, driven by the DARPA TIPSTER programme and the associated MUC evaluations, have been enormous, but it must now be time to ask what research issues face the systems we have built and what we should do next.

LASY: LAser manipulations made eaSY [PDF]
Abstract Using realistic laser profiles for simulations of laser-plasma interaction is critical to reproduce experimental measurements, but the interface between experiments and simulations can be challenging. Similarly, start-to-end simulations with different codes may require error-prone manipulations to convert between different ...

Thermoelectric properties of BaSi2, SrSi2, and LaSi
Journal of Applied Physics, 2007We studied the thermoelectric properties of BaSi2, SrSi2, and LaSi. The polycrystalline samples were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The electrical resistivity (ρ), Seebeck coefficient (S), and thermal conductivity (κ) were measured above room temperature.

QA-LaSIE: A Natural Language Question answering system
2000QA-LaSIE was the heart of the University of Sheffield entry to the Question Answering track of TREC-9. By relaxing some of the strongest linguistic constraints, we achieved a very significant performance improvement over our TREC-8 system on both the TREC-8 and TREC-9 tasks.
