Pseudoextinctions in late Devonian proetide trilobites

Morphologically similar proetide trilobite genera occur in highest Devonian or lowest Carboniferous and in Middle Devonian strata, but are absent from the intervening Upper Devonian. The similarities have been accounted for either by true phyletic relationship, or by homoeomorphy.

Abstract Spores found in sporangia have now been recorded in the literature from sixty Late Silurian and Devonian macroplant species. A review study of these spores, together with an investigation of comparative dispersed spore genera and species, show interesting patterns of construction and sculpture within certain classes.
