Late Proterozoic African glacial era
Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2011A series of large-scale glaciations occurring in the second half of the Late Riphean and Vendian are referred to as the African Glacial Era (Glacioera), which was separated from the preceding Huronian Glacioera by an interglacial of 1.5 Gyr. Six large discrete glacial events (glacioperiods) repeating each 30–50 Myr, occurred during the African ...

Zoological Perspectives on the Late Glacial
2007Enough mammal specimens of Late Glacial date from the British Isles have been subjected to radiocarbon dating to provide a reliable outline of the likely large mammal fauna of the time, though the accompanying fauna of small mammals has mostly been assigned to this period on associative, rather than direct, dating.

Late-Glacial Climate History from Ice Cores
1983Ice cores contain information on climatic variations and their causes. Recent results obtained on the new deep ice core drilled in 1981 at Dye 3, South Greenland, in the frame of the US-Danish-Swiss Greenland Ice Sheet Program are: Comparison of the δ 180 variations in the Greenland ice cores with those in European lake carbonate exhibits strong ...

Extinctions in North America's Late Glacial landscapes
Quaternary International, 2013Human-caused extinctions of terrestrial mammals in large parts of the world such as North America may have been side-effects of rapid long-distance dispersals (biogeographic range-change) by Homo sapiens moving outward from the Old World. The extinctions help explain how modern humans briskly explored and populated large, empty, and increasingly ...

Late-Glacial Shorelines in Eastern Fife
Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, 1966FOR THE past four years the authors have been engaged in the study of raised shorelines and associated glacial retreat phenomena in the Tay basin, including the coast of eastern Fife as far south as Fife Ness (R.A.C.) and along the north side of the Forth valley and estuary (D.E.S.). The overall results of this work so far, together with those obtained

Cryptomeria Japonica: Glacial Refugia and Late‐Glacial and Postglacial Migration
Ecology, 1982Cryptomeria japonica had multiple refugia in Japan where relatively moist, cool climates prevailed during the last glacial period. Its expansion began from scattered full—glacial centers of distribution °15 000 yr ago, reaching its maximum abundance from °7000—2000 yr ago.

Late-Glacial and Post-Glacial subaerial deposits at Pitstone, Buckinghamshire
Proceedings of the Geologists' Association, 1966Abstract A small area of the chalk escarpment north-west of Pitstone Hill, Buckinghamshire, is described. Quarrying has cut into two scarp face coombes lined with unbedded chalk rubble (coombe rock). Overlying this are deposits which on stratigraphical and faunal grounds are assigned to the Late-glacial period of the Weichselian Glaciation.

Late‐glacial marine erosion in Scotland
Boreas, 1974A pronouaced raised reck platform and cliff that occur on part of the west coast of Scotland ale generally considered to have been formed before the last glaciation. It is argued in this paper that they were formed in late‐glacial times, mainly during the Loch Lomond (Upper Dryas) Readvance.

River Behavior During Pleniglacial–Late Glacial
2016Recent investigations in the area, based on absolute chronologies, support a first attempt to answer how the rivers from this part of Southeastern Europe adjusted to direct and indirect effects of climate changes during the Last Glacial, and how important are the local/regional controls in their reactions.
