Orbital and eustatic control of basin hydrology during the first stage of the Messinian Salinity Crisis

The paleo‐hydrology of the Sorbas Basin (SE Spain) and the wider Mediterranean region during the deposition of the Primary Lower Gypsum (PLG) stage of the Messinian Salinity Crisis, from ~5.97 to ~5.60 Ma, was affected by tectonics, precession‐forced climate oscillations, and eustatic sea‐level change.

Deciphering depositional controls and evolution of a lacustrine supradetachment basin through facies analysis: Gördes Basin, Western Türkiye

The lacustrine Gördes Supradetachment Basin was developed along the Simav detachment fault during postorogenic extension in the north of the Menderes Massif in western Anatolia. The basin‐fill succession is represented by alluvial fan, Gilbert‐type delta, shoal‐water delta, foreshore, shoreface, offshore‐transition and peat‐forming mire deposits.

Laguna Fuente de Piedra: An example of a dolomite factory recording ~50,000 years of depositional and paleoclimatic evolution

This study characterises carbonate mineral precipitation mechanisms and their paleoenvironmental implications in a semi‐arid, saline playa lake system. SEM image with EDS spectra shows microcrystalline, spherical shaped dolomite crystals from Laguna Fuente de Piedra composed of nanocrystals with bacterial voids and EPS.

Microbial mediation and climatic control on dolomite precipitation in a hypersaline lake: Insights from Salinas Lake, southern Iberia

The cyclical nature of aridity and humidity led to the alternating deposition of dolomite‐rich and calcite‐rich sediments. During arid phases, the lake hydrology and growth of microbial mats under evaporative and hypersaline environment favors the precipitation of dolomite.

Palaeoglacier reconstruction and dynamics of Cordillera Vilcanota in the tropical high Peruvian Andes

We provide a geomorphological analysis of Cordillera Vilcanota and use morphostratigraphic principles to reconstruct palaeo icefield extent and palaeoglacier readvances, likely during the Antarctic Cold Reversal and Younger Dryas. We find evidence of temperate and polythermal ice margins, with limited glaciofluvial landform generation.
