ABSTRACT This study investigates garnet–clinopyroxene double‐layered coronae in a metagabbronorite from the high‐grade metamorphic Gföhl Unit (Bohemian Massif). The coronae formed at the interfaces between relic magmatic orthopyroxene, still preserved in the cores of the coronae, and the plagioclase‐rich rock matrix.

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

The effect of early diagenetic processes on the quantification of fossil micrometeorite abundance and flux in the geological record

Abstract Fossil micrometeorites (MMs) recovered from lithified sedimentary rocks, particularly iron‐rich (I‐type) cosmic spherules (CSs) provide valuable insights into past dust‐forming events. Their abundances, when combined with estimates of local sedimentation rates can be used to reconstruct the flux of extraterrestrial dust.

Abstract The Tvären structure in southeastern Sweden has been listed as a confirmed marine‐target impact structure for decades. However, to date, no measurements and/or indexed data of planar deformation features in quartz grains from the structure have been published or any other unequivocal evidence of impact.

Late Ordovician cephalopods from Morocco and their implications

The present paper describes the latest cephalopod fauna from the Upper Ordovician in the Anti-Atlas region, Morocco. Two species are reported herein belonging to two genera including one new species, Tafadnatoceras elfechtense sp. nov.
