Middle-Late Permian mass extinction on land

Geological Society of America Bulletin, 2006
The end-Permian mass extinction has been envisaged as the nadir of biodiversity decline due to increasing volcanic gas emissions over some 9 million years. We propose a different tempo and mechanism of extinction because we recognize two separate but geologically abrupt mass extinctions on land, one terminating the Middle Permian (Guadalupian) at 260.4

Thecamoebians from Late Permian Gondwana sediments of peninsular India

European Journal of Protistology, 2014
The evolutionary history of thecamoebians (testate amoebae) extends back to the Neoproterozoic Era. However, until now, these have had a restricted, discontinuous and modest record across the world. The studied sediment of Raniganj Formation (Godavari Graben), Andhra Pradesh, India has been assigned as Late Permian on the basis of co-occurring age ...

Late Permian Discordichthyiformes (Osteichthyes) from European Russia

Paleontological Journal, 2006
New Late Permian fishes combining features characteristic of several classes are analyzed and redescribed. They were assigned to the family Discordichthyidae of the order Discordichthyiformes comprising three genera and four species: Mutovinia stella Minich, Geryonichthys longus A. Minich, G. burchardi A. Minich, and Discordichthys spinifer A.

Phyllotheca: The pastures of the Late Permian

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 1992
Abstract The association between some herbivorous dicynodonts and the plants they depended on in the Late Permian of southern Gondwana is examined in the light of recent palaeobotanical work. The ecological restrictions that the flora placed on the herbivores are examined.
