Low Latency Audio Video

Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, 2014
The primary purpose of this study was to examine the potential of LOw LAtency (LOLA), a low latency audio visual technology designed to allow simultaneous music performance, as a distance learning tool for musical styles in which synchronous playing is an integral aspect of the learning process (e.g., jazz, folk styles).

Identification of source mobile hand sets using audio latency feature

Forensic Science International, 2019
An experiment has been carried out for determination of source of digital audio recording using audio latency feature of mobile phones. The legal requirement of the source correspondence with the audio recordings in question has driven the necessity of such study.

Low latency audio pitch shifting in the frequency domain

2010 International Conference on Audio, Language and Image Processing, 2010
This paper presents a low latency pitch shifting algorithm based on the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT). Unlike existing STFT-based implementations of pitch shifting, the presented algorithm is more robust to reductions of the Fourier transform size.

Low latency audio pitch shifting in the time domain

2008 International Conference on Audio, Language and Image Processing, 2008
This paper presents a novel pitch shifting algorithm that achieves latency significantly lower than existing techniques. As such, it provides a solution for various situations such as live performances in which pitch shifting within less than 10 ms of latency is desired.

Measurement and analysis on audio latency for multiple operating systems

2018 13th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2018
With the improvement of soundcards in digital audio workstations (DAW), it is more popular to use them to deal with the audios in real time. However, audio latency is the main bottleneck to achieve the better performance in such applications, especially in live or open-air environments.

Low-latency audio over IP on embedded systems

2013
Transmission of audio data over networks, such as the Internet, is a widespread technology. Up to now, the primary application is voice transmission (Voice over IP). Although modern Voice over IP systems are designed to reduce the audio latency, it is still too high for the bidirectional transmission of live music.

Ultra-low latency audio coding based on DPCM and block companding

2013 14th International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services (WIAMIS), 2013
A low delay audio coding scheme with good perceptual audio quality for a desired limited bit rate is presented. The proposed audio coding scheme is based on differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) and block companded (BC) quantization. Prediction is realized as a FIR filter in lattice structure.

A Novel Economical Design of Multistage Decimators for Low Latency Audio Applications

2020 IEEE 22nd International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communications; IEEE 18th International Conference on Smart City; IEEE 6th International Conference on Data Science and Systems (HPCC/SmartCity/DSS), 2020
The oversampling sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is widely used in digital audio systems for its low hardware cost and high precision. The digital filter part of the ADC is the primary source of the silicon and power cost. In this work, we proposed an economical multistage decimation filter architecture to meet the requirements of ...

Low latency audio coder design for bluetooth and bluetooth low energy

2015 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2015
Wireless audio service attracts increasing attention both in mobile and in home audio market. For high quality audio service especially on wireless network, the audio codec with low latency is indispensible since the latency prevents a user from being immersed in the service.

Robust Ultra-Low Latency Soft-Decision Decoding of Linear PCM Audio

IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, 2013
Applications such as professional wireless digital microphones require a transmission of practically uncoded high-quality audio with ultra-low latency on the one hand and robustness to error-prone channels on the other hand. The delay restrictions, however, prohibit the utilization of efficient block or convolutional channel codes for error protection.
