Latent Class Analysis for Developmental Research [PDF]

open access: yesChild Development Perspectives, 2016
Abstract In this article, we consider the broad applicability of latent class analysis (LCA) and related approaches to advance research on child development. First, we describe the role of person-centered methods such as LCA in developmental research, and review prior applications of LCA to the study of development and related areas ...

Multimethod latent class analysis [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Correct and, hence, valid classifications of individuals are of high importance in the social sciences as these classifications are the basis for diagnoses and/or the assignment to a treatment. The via regia to inspect the validity of psychological ratings is the multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) approach. First, a latent variable model for the analysis of

Latent Class Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal for Cross-Disciplinary Subjects in Education, 2020
Latent class (LC) analysis is a widely used method for extracting meaningful groups (LCs) from data. The basic concept was introduced by Paul Lazarsfeld in 1950 for building typologies (or clusters) from dichotomous variables as part of his more general latent structure analysis.

Dynamic Latent Class Analysis

open access: yesStructural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal, 2016
This article describes the general time-intensive longitudinal latent class modeling framework implemented in Mplus. For each individual a latent class variable is measured at each time point and the latent class changes across time follow a Markov process (i.e., a hidden or latent Markov model), with subject-specific transition probabilities that are ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
